My name is Rob Edwards. I’m an avid “car guy” and was a firefighter for 32 years. After recently retiring from that vocation I’m now chasing my childhood dream of working on a race team.. It has been a long strange trip, from sneaking into Sunshine Speedway in my neighbor’s pickup truck at twelve years old to watching him race his 66 Corvette - to traveling the country for Phoenix Performance. My experience goes from drag racing in high school (legally and not so legally) to winning the WKA state championship in karts and getting a free ride to Jamaica to compete there. I acquired a “B Limited Pro Superkart license as well.
I also constructed several cars, a “pro street” 69 Camaro that made the cover of Popular Hot Rodding Magazine; a competitive kart chassis and an SCCA MG Midget sports car along with miscellaneous other vehicles.
Along the way, since I didn’t have a lot of money, I had to not only figure things out but do them myself, so I thought that I’d pass some of those lessons on to you. So in the theme of the lo-buck hot rodder…may work win over money every time!
With a couple of cars that I’ve built...
My current position is with Phoenix Performance as their “Tire Specialist.” The list of responsibilities is fairly long and with two cars they keep me hopping these days, so my current attention is being taken up by two of these beautiful Boss 302 mustangs.
